Your music deserves to sound as great as artist with mega budgets, this is the chance to have your project mixed by one of the best mix engineers in the game! Lu understands how important a mix can be to the success of a song and now he can make your music sound like it should. We have worked closely with Lu to develop three levels of services. Our goal is to offer plans that can hopefully help those who normally would not have the resources to work with Mr. Diaz.

What is a Mix engineer and do I need one?

A mix engineer, also referred to as "mixer", is a person who, once all instruments, voices, etc, have been recorded, creates what's called the "final mix" or "mix down" of a song. Hence the term "mix engineer". He takes all the elements that have been recorded, and 'blends' or 'mixes' them together, with the aim of achieving a good balance of the instruments and vocal volumes, as well as improving sound quality through various artificial enhancing methods such as equalization, reverb, and other effects.

If you have vocals over a two tracks of music, meaning you do not have the music's session where every sound is on its own separate track, you do not want to spend the money on a mix engineer. A good example is mix tapes where artist either rap or sing over "The Two Track" or "Instrumental Mix".

If you have a finished production (Song) where all the vocals and music are on their own separate tracks in a session and you are going to commercially release, then we highly recommend that your music be mixed by a professional mix engineer!

How can I remain involved in the mix process?

There are several ways that you can stay involved with the mix. First lets keep in mind that once you have made your payment and a schedule has been confirmed, you will have a chance to speak with Lu at length about your mix. One of the ways you can give your input concerning the mix is, after Lu reaches a point in the mix where he feels he is getting close to where he feels the track should be, Lu will print a pass that will be uploaded to our servers for you to listen and give Lu your feedback and changes. We also offer a web cam service for session in Level 1&2 (Plans) where you can check in on what's going on in your session and give your comments in real time. All these details will be worked out and confirmed prior to scheduling your session.

How Long does it take Lu to mix a song?

There really is not a set time that it takes to mix a song; mainly because every project has different needs therefore Lu may take longer or shorter time than others. Just to give you an idea Lu takes approximately 4-6 hours to mix a song, now that is not including the time it takes to print mixes which is approximately 1-2 hours and that does not include time for printing stems, which usually take around 2 hours. Also it is important to mention that some time will be needed for session back ups and uploading files for delivery. That takes around 2 hours. So with all this taken into consideration a mix from start to finish normally takes about 12 hours in total.

What are stems? Stem Session ?

Once you approve the final mix and Lu prints the final mixes. We record every sound in your session back to pro tools with all the plug-ins and processing Lu has done to it. Once we are done recording every sound back to Pro Tools, we will assemble a new session with all these prints. This session will be copied to a DVD and sent to you as your master (Stem Session). This session can be opened on any Pro Tools system, which will sound exactly like the final mix. So for example at a later date you needed to make some new changes to the mix, but you don't want to pay a recall fee, than you could use this session to make whatever changes you'd like. Example: Many clients will do a remix of a song. Lets take Dj Khaled's "I'm So Hood" the original mix features Trick Daddy, Rick Ross & Plies. Few weeks later Khaled decides he wants to have all new artists for a remix. Well Lu used the stem session to adapt the song to the new MCs like Ludacris, Busta and Big Boy... There are many more uses for a stem session and some are as simple as turning up one or two sounds. In which case it is nice to be able to do small changes to the mix without having to rebook studio time and engineer!

Does Lu take on every project?

Unfortunately there is only so much time in a week and Lu is a pretty busy man. A lot depends on the time frame that you "the client" is is looking for and how Lu's availability and work load is at the time,  So with that said  unfortunately Lu sometimes has to turn some work down.  Lu is really adamant about putting 100% of his focus on projects he takes on and will not take on a project he feels he can't commit the appropriate time to.
